Golf Australia joins the CoachMate family

CoachMate is excited to announce that we have partnered with Golf Australia to digitise their ‘MyGolf’, ‘Get Into Golf’ and new ‘MyGolf Schools’ participation programs to ensure that new golfers, both young and old, have the best experience possible.

David Gallichio, General Manager at Golf Australia, says “Golf in Australia has enjoyed huge growth in participation numbers over the last few years highlighted by our 2022/2023 Golf Participation Report where 3.5 million Australians played golf, representing 17.6% of adult Australians.

To complement that, numbers in the ‘MyGolf’ participation program rose 22% year-on-year and ‘Get Into Golf’ rose 39% year-on-year.

Keeping new players engaged and turning them into lifelong fans of the game is essential to keep our game thriving, and CoachMate will play a key role in that.”

Helping to deliver fun, simple golfing sessions

Golf Australia’s game based programs on the free CoachMate app are aimed at the entire golfing community, making group management and the delivery of fun sessions simple for every PGA Pro and school teacher.

Parents and caregivers can use CoachMate to help their kids have fun and explore their love for the game while beginner golfers will find content that makes learning the basics enjoyable and easy.

Michelle Walshe, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, says:

“Seeing the incredible work that Golf Australia are doing at the grassroots level in attracting new golfers to the sport make them the perfect partner. We know that, globally, youth participation in sports is declining at an all-time rate, with girls leaving at twice the rate as boys. Golf Australia have reversed this trend, shown by a 12.6% increase in women and girls joining clubs and a 9.3% rise in junior club memberships.

“At CoachMate, we are determined to make sure that these new golfers have a great experience to ensure that they come back year after year and enjoy the social, physical and mental benefits that sport provides.”

The key features that CoachMate provides the golfing community are:

  • Digitising GolfAustralia’s curriculum and participation programs including ‘MyGolf’, ‘Get Into Golf’ and ‘MyGolf Schools’

  • Providing easy-to-follow, bite-sized coaching videos to help coaches, teachers and volunteers deliver great sessions

  • Tailoring fun game based content to fit participants’ age and experience

  • Providing group management functions such as group chat and the ability to add events like group practices

  • Role-specific game based content designed for teachers, coaches and beginners
